President's Day Scavenger Hunt

Happy President's Day!  I'm not sure how you've spent your day, but for many of us, it's back to school tomorrow.  We are in the midst of parent-teacher conferences, so things are a little bit chaotic for us right now.  I decided to make an activity this weekend so I have something ready to go for Tuesday.

The activity includes 12 QR codes that help students explore the US Presidents.  Students are given a question, find the answer, and record it on their answer sheet.  I purposefully chose many Presidents that are not as well-known to expand their familiarity of other Presidents.

It's a really simple activity, but I like it for several reasons:

  • It's a low-prep activity.  Simply print off the QR codes and make photocopies of the questions for the students.
  • The students interact with informative text to find the answer to the questions.  The answers are not necessarily in the first paragraph of text.
  • It's great test-taking strategy practice, and students won't even know it!
  • It involves the iPad, and our students are so motivated by using it.
  • It's just a nice way to honor President's Day by taking the time to think about all of their accomplishments!
Here's a peek at the activity.  You can find it here at our TPT store.  It's FREE until 7:00 pm CST!
