Book Of The Week: The Gruffalo

The Gruffly by Julia Donaldson

Summary:  The mouse may be one of the smallest animals in the forest, but perhaps, he has the most smarts, too!   The mouse creates the gruffalo, a creature with knobby knees, poisonous warts, and terrible tusks.  The rhyme and rhythm along with the wit of the mouse makes this story a delightful story!

Vocabulary:
stroll  - to walk slowly without a purpose or clear reason
tusks - a long, large, pointed tooth that sticks out from the mouth of some animals
jaws - the top and or bottom bones in the mouth that hold the teeth
knobbly - full of lumps and knots
feast - a large meal with many different kinds of foods
scramble - to move quickly using hands and feet
astounding - tremendous surprise; amazing
