Who knew that starting our Earth Day persuasive writing activity would end with us addressing a letter to the White House? Today, our students finished the final piece of our Earth Day activity. They started by brainstorming environmental concerns both globally and locally and then completed a graphic organizer regarding their selected topic.
Then the students drafted a persuasive letter to a person of their choice. Several students chose to write to President Obama, and two of those students asked to send the letter to him. They were so excited at the thought that they wrote several drafts before completing their final one to send.
I am so proud of
these two students!
Their language skills have progressed so much, and
by having the opportunity to send their letters, it has given them a perfect end to a successful fifth grade
year!
