Book of the Week: Snowmen At Night



This rhyming tale is told from a young boy's perspective. He discovered his snowman looking droopy and worn, causing him to wonder, "What do snowmen do at night?" He then goes on to imagine a night filled of fun, including snowman games, skating and ice-cold cocoa. This week we are using this book to answer predictions  and inferential questions, comparing and contrasting snowmen,  sequencing tasks, and some descriptive writing.

Story Questions:


Who is telling the story?
What do you think snowmen do at night?
How do you think the boy feels about his snowman drooping?
Did you ever build a snowman? How was it different from this one? 
What kind of Cocoa do you think they are drinking, hot or cold? Why?
What activities do snowmen do at the park?

What would you change about the book? Why?

Droop- bend or hanging downward

Fright- to feel or look alarmed

anxious - to feel worry

giggling- to laugh

Moonlit-lighted by the moon

Wild- lively, opposite of tame

Tuckered- tired or worn out

Gather- come together
